To promote crime preventiovn and public safety statewide
through community partnerships and education.

STATEWIDE CORRESPONDENCE | June 2008

1. National Night Out 2008 will be celebrated on August 5, 2008.
This will be the 25th Anniversary for this national celebration uniting police and communities across the country in the fight against crime. Not all Nevada communities have celebrated this event in the past. So, for those who would like to learn about National Night Out 2008, visit the National Association of Town Watch website at www.natw.org to learn more. If you plan to participate in this event in some way, big or small, please let us know so we can have an idea of how this event will be celebrated in our state.

2. Summer is here.
The summer crime prevention information located on out Information and Tips link is for your use. Please feel free to copy and share with your community as you may need.

3. Remember to utilize the National Crime Prevention Council (website of www.ncpc.org) and the National Sheriff’s Association (website www.usaonwatch.org) for many of your crime prevention and Neighborhood Watch needs.

4. Check out the “United States Design Out Crime Association” website for some training opportunities and awareness.
This website is www.us-doca.com For those of you familiar with CPTED, this new association is a reflection of the trend towards referring to CPTES as “designing out crime”. This is an exciting move forward and the NSCPA hopes to partner with them and bring some of their expertise to Nevada in the future. Many of you are probably familiar with Mr. Art Hushen, a well known CPTED expert. It is he, and others committed to crime prevention, who are the driving force behind US-DOCA. All crime prevention practitioners will benefit from what is being done in this field. (While at the website, be sure to take the National CPTED Survey)

In closing , you are reminded that a membership drive and a sponsor outreach will soon be underway. This is a necessary part of any organization and we will be keeping you up-to-date as we progress with that process. Our growth depends upon participation and support. Please be thinking of possible sponsors in your area that may want to contribute to the Nevada State Crime Prevention Association!

As always, feel free to contact us with any comments, concerns, or suggestions you may have.

Thank You !!!
